How LocalPros Reviews Contractor Information

We publish pricing guidance, hiring checklists, and local research profiles to help homeowners compare options more carefully before they contact businesses directly.

Our 4-Point Verification Framework

License Check

LocalPros references state and municipal licensing databases when building homeowner guidance so readers know where a contractor's license should be checked. In cities with local systems (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles), we point homeowners to both the state and city-level lookup sources.

Insurance Verification

Our hiring guidance highlights when homeowners should ask for general liability and workers' comp documentation. We do not treat a business profile as proof that current insurance is active — homeowners should confirm coverage directly before hiring.

Complaint History

We review BBB complaint history, state contractor board disciplinary records, and public review sources when we write hiring guidance. These references help explain what homeowners should look for, but they are not a guarantee that any business shown on LocalPros is currently complaint-free.

Service Area Confirmation

City and neighborhood pages are built around LocalPros research coverage for that market. Neighborhood pages may broaden to city-level profile sets when neighborhood-specific business coverage is thin.

Where Our Data Comes From

LocalPros combines contractor licensing references, public review sources, pricing research, and standardized directory modeling to build homeowner guidance. Provider cards and recommendation lists should be treated as research snapshots, not proof that a business is available, endorsed, or participating with LocalPros.

When homeowners use LocalPros, the expectation is that they will independently verify licenses, insurance, and fit before hiring. Our role is to make that research process clearer and faster.

How the Recommendation Request Works

When you submit a request through LocalPros, we store the request, preserve the page context it came from, and generate a short list of LocalPros research profiles or, in select markets, reviewed public business listings that may be worth reviewing next. Your request is not automatically forwarded to businesses, and businesses are not promised any relationship with LocalPros.

Recommendation lists are meant to help homeowners organize their next steps. Always confirm availability, pricing, credentials, and service fit directly with any business you choose to contact.

How to Read a LocalPros Profile

Ratings, review counts, years in business, and highlights on LocalPros are part of our research model and are intended to help homeowners compare categories of businesses consistently. They should not be treated as a guarantee of current service quality or availability.

What We Don't Do

We don't sell guaranteed placement to homeowners. We don't claim that a business received your request unless that actually happened. We don't guarantee pricing, fit, availability, or workmanship from any business mentioned on LocalPros.
